Cooperate core blend with maximalism (trend prediction 2024)
Maximalist casual will burgeon in the next year.
I'm not sure if it's an actual term or one that I just made up but the definition is still withheld. Maxilist casual, like the name suggests, is maximalism in the realm of the casual ordinary style consisting of jeans, cotton t-shirts, button-ups, and the colors white, black, gray, and red.
As you may notice this casual style is very reminiscent and probably goes hand-in-hand with the cooperate style: blazers, dark-colored pants, white button-ups, kitten heels, conservative skirts, etc.
The rise of maximalist casual will be thanks to the Prada Mia goth campaign in 2022
But we are definitely seeing a rise in more casual outfits that are elevated through textures, shapes, jewelry, prints, color blocking, etc with the most recent Schiaparelli Ready-to-Wear Spring 2024.
Also, the birth of the cooperate style from that Prada campaign plays into how you turn outfits from such a restricting space and conservative culture and gambol with it. We are seeing a shift from outrageous and over-the-top runway outfits (from the perspective of the normal person) to outfits that relate to them more (the recent George stellar photoshoots on an iPhone camera).
The 2010s trend of messy but still chic like the Olsen twins kinda vibe will be prominent as well.
But for me, this whole style really started way back with the Jean Paul Gaultier Spring Ready-to-Wear Fashion Show in 1994, with outfits that incorporated jeans, button-up shirts, overall more everyday wear pieces, and experimenting with different ways to elevate with jewelry, shapes, materials, etc.
