Ins and outs of 2024
It's 2024. Crazy to think about but we are finally here, and instead of doing New Year's resolutions I want to do the ins and outs of 2024, more of habits that I want to maintain/build and things that I want to throw out/stop doing this year!
Ins
- Podcasts
After some reflection I realized my yearning to consume media is getting kinda of crazy, and nothing of the traditional sort is helping me, I can't watch movies anymore (new ones), and I can't listen to music because for some reason I'm getting bored with the genre that I have always hold dear (Indie, Atl, Pop), Tiktok is not enough I find the hours of mindlessly scrolling exhausting, making outfits on Pinterest doesn't satisfy my need. In this desperation, I came across an article about the 74 best podcasts of all time by the British Vouge so I decided to give it a try and after several scrolls, I subscribed to some podcasts on Spotify and am super excited to be consuming podcasts. Will let you know my thoughts!
- Explore music genres
As mentioned above, I found myself getting bored of the usual type of music that I listen to, I'm not sure if it's due to the banal sonics or similar production between these songs but I just crave..something else. Something that I usually don't listen to. I want to explore places that I have not stepped into, which I find super exciting. I am just beginning to dip my toes into the punk/rock culture (starting off nicely with pop-rock songs, with some vintage feels from artists like Fleetwood Mac). My new favorite song lately is Knockin' on Heaven's Door Bob Dylan version (so good).
- Reading
Through the deep period of heavy media consumption, I want to start to move my eyes away from the screen and do things that are more hands-on, physical, and those that are slightly academically challenging. Which happens to be reading for me. I am quite scared though because I actually have not picked up a book in the past year, and barely read at all nowadays (a very weird situation because I do still write often). Without reading I think I am losing so much knowledge, my writing has become weaker, and interpretations have faded as well, so I'm hoping to gain those back through reading. Taking it super slow and is just reading articles though, for now at least.
- Healthy hair
I have tried to change a lot of stuff about my body and self, but strangely not my hair. I want to have super healthy hair this year because I came to the conclusion that the condition of your hair (as well as the way it is styled) could make or break your outfit (or mood). Healthy hair also gives me the chance to style it better. Very excited actually to try out different types of braids daily.
- Jewelry
Before I never really cared for jewelry, it never was something I was interested in but thanks to Pinterest, and two friendship bracelets my dear friend made me, I have fallen in love with the way the beads jingle and shake on my hand when I move even in the subtlest degree. So I am now officially a jewelry girl, now it is time to make some jewelry, invest in some jewelry, and find out if I'm a gold or silver girl.
- Drink water
Self explanatory. I really need to drink more water. This should not even be "ins of 2024" it should be more of a "must-do" for every single year. Oh well, we start this year.
Outs
- Staying up past 11pm
The last few weeks of December were especially horrible for me in terms of my sleep schedule. I had too much liberty at hand that, using the excuse of human nature, I abused. But from now on I will try my best to stay in the line of discipline and get enough nighttime rest so that I don't drag myself around lifelessly the next day! Wish me luck this is probably the most difficult stuff I have to throw "out".
- Dress to impress
No, I will only try to impress myself and most important stay comfortable
- Procasination
This is my everyday goal for the last 5 years... anyway, it needs to be here anyhow.
That's all I can come up with right now, will edit it again if I think of some more through the week! What are your ins and outs of 2024? Have a good day!
Xoxo, Yours Truly
